Gov. Mike Johanns has signed an insurance producer licensing bill incorporating all the provisions of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners model regulation.
“We tried to amend LB 51 to include a specific exemption for customer service representatives,” said National Association of Independent Insurers. “We don’t feel those employees should have to go through the expense and effort to be licensed as agents and meet the accompanying continuing education requirements.
“Fortunately, Insurance Commissioner Tim Wagner has indicated that his policy to not require licenses of that type of employee will continue, but we would prefer for the law to state that clearly.”
