Marshall and Swift/Boeckh Acquires Data

April 17, 2002

Marshall & Swift/Boeckh, a New Berlin, Wis.-based provider of building cost data and estimating services to the property insurance industry, has acquired the contents data from Total Research & Replacement (TRR), a 20-year-old full-service contents replacement firm and data provider headquartered in Atlanta, Ga.

MS/B noted that through the acquisition, it is now the sole provider of TRR contents data. MS/B will provide the data in conjunction with its IntegriClaim property loss estimating system. By integrating TRR’s contents database into IntegriClaim, MS/B creates a single source for building cost and contents data that is readily accessible by the field and desk adjuster.

Bob Crine, president of MS/B, pointed out, “A key advantage of TRR’s data is the ability to locate historical items and relate those items to modern Like Kind and Quality (LKQ) equivalents. And having the LKQ contents data resident in IntegriClaim makes that product substantially more valuable than the other automated stand alone contents systems on the market.”

With the addition of the contents database, MS/B said it is able to apply in-depth analyses to a higher percentage of claims that insurance companies typically process and make recommendations for even greater profitability improvements. By reporting on both building cost and contents data from claims, MS/B can offer valuable information to insurance companies by providing industry reports that show real ACV and RCV amounts and if those amounts are actually utilized in the settlement.

MS/B will continue to research, update and provide the contents data in conjunction with IntegriClaim. The TRR contents database is updated quarterly and allows users to search for items by features, age, make, model and category; gives LKQ recommendations for historical claims, creates inventory lists or organizes contents by room within the estimate, and provides access to a database of historical and current personal property items.
