PIIAI Mourns Loss of State Rep. Tim Osmond

December 23, 2002

The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois has issued a bulletin on behalf of the organization, its staff and all members of the insurance community, mourning the loss of State Representative Tim Osmond, who died of a heart attack on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at his home in Antioch.

“Tim had just been reelected to his third term in the House and was the owner and principal of Osmond Insurance Services, Ltd., in Antioch for over 25 years,” said the announcement. “He was very active in Lake County as an independent agent and as head of the Antioch Rescue Squad. Tim and his wife, Jo Ann have been active in Lake County republican campaigns for the last two decades.”

From the time he joined the legislature in 1999, Osmond was recognized as an expert on insurance issues, and was assuming an even larger leadership role in the State House. “Tim had just finished shepherding the model credit scoring legislation through the National Conference of Insurance Legislators meeting, and was preparing to introduce it in the General Assembly in January,” stated Phil Lackman, PIIAI Vice President of Government Relations. “The bill represented Tim’s approach to the legislative process-look out for the best interests of the consumer while being careful not to send the wrong message to legitimate business concerns.”
