Platinum Names Industry Vet as Broadspire CEO

December 3, 2003

Platinum Equity LLC has named Dennis Replogle president and CEO of Broadspire, formerly Kemper Services.

Replogle led a significant development effort at Specialty Risk Services, a subsidiary of the Hartford Financial Services Group. During Replogle’s eight years as president of the third-party administrator, the company increased its revenues five-fold, from $39 million to almost $200 million. Under his guidance, SRS grew from the 16th to the fifth-largest TPA in the United States.

Platinum Equity purchased the service business in July from Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Co., and launched a comprehensive transition program to carve out the business and develop it as a standalone company.

Former Broadspire president and CEO Pat Drago has left the company to explore other business opportunities.

As president of SRS, headquartered in Hartford, Conn., Replogle oversaw the expansion of field operations, where turnover of personnel dropped to less than 10 percent. He implemented new claim and risk management information systems to capture additional data and improve claim handling, helped the company increase its penetration in the unbundled market and substantially improved its profitability.

Before going to SRS, Replogle served as president of CSSC, a subsidiary of the Travelers Insurance Co., where he was responsible for the marketing and management of national accounts and increased revenue from $15 million to $100 million in four years.

Replogle began his career at Travelers in 1971, gaining experience in field claim handling and Workers’ Compensation claims. He was a regional vice president and vice president of field operations in the claims department of Travelers Insurance.

A graduate of the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in zoology, Replogle received a master’s degree in organizational behavior from the University of Hartford.
