Jewelers Mutual Offers Free ID Theft Service for Commercial Customers

August 1, 2006

Neenah, Wis.-based Jewelers Mutual Insurance announced a free identity theft service for commercial policyholders in the United States and Canada who are owners, officers, or principals of their jewelry businesses. The service also is extended to their immediate family members.

Available through a partnership with Identity Theft 911, the leading provider of identity theft resolution and education, Identity Theft Restoration Services will help policyholders restore their identity and credit in the event they become victims of identity theft. The service also will help rebuild their original means of identification if they are impacted by a natural disaster, regardless of whether or not an identity theft occurred.

“Without professional assistance, identity theft victims can spend more than 20 work days trying to recover from this crime,” said Jeff Mills, vice president of Commercial Lines Operations. “By using our Identity Theft Restoration Services, customers can spend less than two hours. A trusted identity theft expert works one-on-one with our customers, so they can move on with their lives.”

If policyholders become victims of identity theft, they simply call Jewelers Mutual’s Claim Department and are connected to a personal, expert advocate from Identity Theft 911. Identity Theft Restoration Services works to direct and assist them through the challenges of identity and credit restoration.

Some highlights of the service include:

* Systematic notification to credit bureaus, creditors, collectors, government agencies, etc.
* Preparation of documentation and phone calls necessary to resolve issues.
* Direct assistance with filing police reports, creating a fraud victim affidavit, and working with law enforcement.
* Assistance in rebuilding original means of identification – as well as personal and financial documents – after natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, or tornadoes.
* A full year of credit and fraud monitoring.
* Preventative advice and ongoing education.

“It is important for consumers to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from the nation’s fastest growing crime,” said Steve Christenson, president of Identity Theft 911. “By offering this service for free, Jewelers Mutual is ensuring that its customers are one step ahead of, and prepared for, any situation in which they could potentially become a victim of identity theft.”
