Agents, Insurance Skills Center Host Agribusiness Program in Des Moines

Insurance Skills Center and the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa will present a two-day conference focusing on farm and agribusiness insurance risks, Oct. 22-23, 2007 in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Midwest Agribusiness Conference allows participants to receive continuing education credits from most states while earning the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation. Three tracks will be offered during the conference:
AFIS Part 1 which focuses on farm property, farm liability, and umbrellas & excess; AFIS Part 2 with concentration on agribusiness risk management and farm auto, workers’ comp and farm labor issues, and crop insurance; and AFIS Part 3 discusses agricultural pollution, crime, equipment breakdown, AAIS AgOp program, transportation, and livestock/equine/animal mortality Issues.

New to the conference will be 12 specialized breakout sessions including:
• Enterprise risk management;
• Loose livestock legalities & liabilities;
• E-coli & products recall, contamination, and spoilage;
• New crop trends & risk revenue products;
• Wineries & vineyards;
• Truckers Insurance;
• Agri-Tainment;
• Dairy operations;
• Business income for ag risks;
• Loss control & farm safety;
• agricultural pollution; and,
• Liability waivers in hunting, farm, and equine

The Agribusiness Conference is designed for broker/agents, customer service representatives, and company representatives who want specialized training in farm and agribusiness coverages.
