Ohio Agents Recognize Outstanding Leaders at Annual Business Meeting

October 12, 2007

The Professional Insurance Agents Association of Ohio, Inc. (PIA), held a special awards ceremony during its annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony on October 4th. Individuals were recognized for outstanding leadership. The program’s theme and several awards centered on the association’s efforts to tackle industry staffing and perpetuation concerns through its competitive internship program for college juniors and seniors.

“Insurance agencies and companies alike consistently tell us that the critical issue this industry faces is the need to attract new talent,” said 2007 PIA President Dave Kotary. “Because of the leadership of our members who developed the PIA Internship Program, young people are getting to know our industry and finding a fit for their potential.”

Several annual awards—Industry Person of the Year, Excellence in Leadership and Chairman of the Year—were awarded to internship task force members. In addition to those awards, PIA also recognized outstanding volunteers for Educator of the Year and Community Service Volunteer of the Year.

“From helping create career interest in the Ohio insurance industry to providing top-notch training for current agents, our award winners prove that individuals can make a difference,” said Kotary. “And it all sums up to a roster of dedicated PIA members who continually go above and beyond to give back to their industry and communities.”

The 2007 PIA Award Winners are:

PIA of Ohio Industry Person of the Year, Mark T. Reilly, Diversified Insurance, Elmore; PIA of Ohio Award for Excellence in Leadership, Jeanine Giesler, Diversified Insurance, Elmore and Leslie Petulla, The Motorists Insurance Group, Columbus; PIA of Ohio Chairman of the Year, Tim Stolly, Stolly Insurance Agency, Lima; PIA of Ohio, Jack V.
