Ohio Deputy Director Ising to Retire Feb. 1

January 11, 2008

Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson recently announced the retirement of Peg Ising, who has served as the Department’s Deputy director since May 2006. According to Hudson, Ising is a seasoned employee who has served in several leadership capacities and is directly involved with the Department’s policy and administrative direction. She oversees fraud, enforcement and licensing; product regulation; market conduct; and consumer services. Her retirement will be effective Feb. 1, 2008.

Ising has worked at the department for nearly 25 years, previously serving as assistant director of the property and casualty division, in agent licensing, and most recently as assistant director of life and health.

“Peg’s contributions during a long and distinguished career have been enormous. Her commitment and dedication have helped to protect Ohio consumers while maintaining a thriving insurance marketplace,” said Director Hudson. “While she will be greatly missed, we wish Peg the best of luck in her future endeavors.”

In her capacity as deputy director, Ising has been active in national insurance issues, often representing the Department on key boards, committees and task forces of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). She worked in the insurance industry prior to joining the Department.

Ising’s played a pivotal role in the department’s speed to market initiative, moving from a paper to electronic filing system and agent licensing changes in 1999 that reduced a six-week turnaround to six days.

“I am very proud of my service to the citizens of the great state of Ohio,” said Ising. “I deeply value the relationships I have developed within Ohio and the insurance industry over the past 25-years; however, I now look forward to spending quality time with my family.”
