Illinois Governor Appoints Moreland to Workers’ Comp Advisory Board

September 8, 2008

Kimberly Moreland, vice president of Rising Medical Solutions, a medical-financial organization, was named one of nine governor-appointed seats on the State of Illinois Workers’ Compensation Medical Fee Advisory Board. In this position, Moreland will advise the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission on the establishment of fees for medical services and accessibility of medical treatment for Illinois workers who have experienced job-related injuries or
illnesses.

Since the Illinois workers’ compensation legislative reform was passed
in 2005, Moreland has been asked to speak on the State’s adoption of a medical fee schedule and its utilization review guidelines by various organizations, including the Illinois Insurance Association, Illinois Self-Insurers Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois
Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and the Illinois Workers’
Compensation Lawyers Association, among others.

Moreland, who holds a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Nursing, chose to leverage her expertise in a non-clinical setting when she entered the medical management field and eventually joined Illinois-based Rising Medical Solutions (Rising) in 1999. As a primary organizational leader and head of the company’s Client Services Division, Moreland is involved in various aspects of Rising’s operations — operations which collectively interact with all sides of the workers’ compensation community, including insurers, medical providers, employers, injured/ill employees, and attorneys.

Headquartered in Chicago, Rising Medical Solutions is a
medical-financial solutions organization that services the auto,
workers’ compensation, and liability markets.
