September 24, 2008

Northbrook, Ill.-based the Allstate Corp. recently announced that Patrick M. O’Brien will lead the combined entities of Allstate Motor Club (AMC) and Partnership Marketing Group (PMG) as president. He will also serve as assistant vice president in the Emerging Businesses group at Allstate. Allstate acquired Partnership Marketing Group, a business unit of GE Money, in June 2008. In his new role, O’Brien will expand Allstate’s footprint in the retail and wholesale roadside assistance, legal services, and affinity products marketplace, the Allstate statement said.

Allstate Motor Club, which was established in 1961, provides 24-hour roadside assistance to 1.2 million customers through a national network of service providers. An additional 1.4 million customers are served through an enhanced towing or roadside assistance benefit available to Allstate auto insurance policyholders.

PMG is the second-largest provider of roadside assistance in the country. In addition, PMG provides legal services benefits plans and membership-based consumer affinity offerings in the shopping, wellness, travel, and entertainment areas. PMG markets its products directly to consumers and through private label and affinity distribution relationships with some of the most well-known brands in the United States.

O’Brien, who joined Allstate with the acquisition, served as president of PMG for the past two years and oversaw an annual growth rate of more than 20 percent to reach $150 million in annual revenue. In addition, O’Brien has been instrumental in growing the wholesale channel of the roadside business, doubling the size of this critical growth channel with the acquisition of key partners.
