Hanover Insurance Adds Cohen as Regional Vice President in Ohio

The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc., with offices in Columbus, today announced it has named Bob Cohen to its local field leadership team in Ohio, reinforcing the company’s strong commitment to winning independent agents in the Buckeye State.

The Hanover has appointed Bob Cohen as regional vice president, commercial lines, for its Ohio market, with responsibility for coordinating overall commercial lines strategies and activities.

Cohen, previously served as commercial lines manager for The Hanover’s Southeast Michigan market. He joined the company in 2005, coming from Chubb Insurance, where he served as commercial insurance practice leader in the company’s Pittsburgh office. Prior to that, Cohen served as branch underwriting manager at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group, for the company’s Western Pennsylvania market.

The announcement follows The Hanover’s recent appointment of Don Harmeling as regional vice president, personal lines, for the Ohio market. Harmeling joined the company in 2007, coming from Safeco Insurance Co., where he served as sales and distribution manager for the company’s Ohio region.

In personal lines, The Hanover offers independent agents a “total account” solution which includes the company’s Connections(R) suite of insurance products for home and automobile coverage. Now available through Connections are two new endorsements: Ultimate Service and Total Household Rewards, which enable eligible customers to save hundreds of dollars in the event of a loss thanks to enhanced coverage on their automobile and homeowners policies for towing, labor, and rental cars as well as waived deductibles and guaranteed policy renewals.

Similarly, in commercial lines, the company’s Avenues(R) portfolio enables its agent partners to deliver a “total solution” for their small- to mid-size business clients, including commercial auto, specialty capabilities in marine and bond, and niche products for schools, the hospitality industry, school districts, religious institutions, health care, real estate, and lawyers liability.
