Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray has sued Columbus Fire Repair (Nation’s Construction LLC) alleging the company targeted and scammed Ohioans whose homes were recently damaged by fire.
The lawsuit filed in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas charges the company and its owner, William Bridge III, with several violations of Ohio consumer law including failure to deliver, shoddy workmanship and unfair, deceptive and unconscionable sales practices.
According to the lawsuit, Columbus Fire Repair subscribed to a news pager service that alerted it to fires throughout the city and surrounding areas. The lawsuit further states that Columbus Fire Repair accepted payment from consumers’ insurance companies but left the homes in disarray. As a result, Cordray is seeking injunctive relief, consumer restitution and civil penalties.
