Capitol Insurance Companies Promote Three

Middleton, Wis.-based Capitol Insurance Companies has announced three promotions. Kevin A. Klestinski has been named vice president of property and casualty underwriting, Richard F. Boettner has been promoted to director of underwriting – brokerage and general agent binding, and David W. Schirmer has been named director of audit and product development.

Klestinski joined Capitol in 2006 as director of marketing operations. In this position, he provided leadership to the marketing staff to include the planning, organizing and directing of the day-to-day operations. He also worked closely with property and casualty underwriting to set the strategic marketing direction for the company. In November 2008, he became director of property and casualty underwriting – independent agents.

Boettner joined Capitol in July 2002 as staff services director, moved into the property and casualty underwriting department in May 2004 as property and casualty manager, and was promoted to director of property and casualty underwriting – independent agents in April 2005. In March 2006, he became the director of property and casualty underwriting – brokerage. In this position, he has provided leadership to the brokerage underwriting staff to include the planning, organizing and directing of the day-to-day operations.

Schirmer joined Capitol in June 2003 as underwriting manager of Capitol Specialty Insurance Co., becoming director of underwriting – general agents in April 2005. He has accepted the position of director of audit and product development, and will focus on P/C underwriting changes and product development.

Capitol is a national underwriter of specialty insurance products in niche areas of the commercial property and casualty and the fidelity and surety markets. Its operating entities include Capitol Indemnity Corp., Capitol Specialty Insurance Corp. and Platte River Insurance Co.
