May 10, 2011

Mark Z. Moores, president of St. Paul-based Moores Insurance Management Inc., and has been named president of the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (MIIAB) professional association.

He previously received the “Young Agent of the Year” award from MIIAB, and in 2008 was named the association’s “Agent of the Year in Minnesota.” He also has served on the board of the association.

Moores has 31 years of experience in the insurance industry and a sincere belief in Minnesota’s more than 500 agencies and more than 5,000 independent licensed agents.

Moores said highlights for his tenure as MIIAB president are straightforward.

“From an industry standpoint, we hope to encourage members to use the association and its resources more frequently. We hope that they will get to know their company partners and peers better, participate in continuing education opportunities, support lobbying efforts locally and nationally – and understand where the industry is going,” he said in an announcement released by the MIIAB.

From a customer perspective, Moores anticipates that a major focus will be on the unique and proven benefits offered by independent agents.

The boutique-style personal and commercial insurance business that Moores founded has grown to be one of the largest independently-owned insurance agencies in downtown St. Paul, and serves clients in 29 states as well as several international locations.

His business is 100 percent referral-based from a network of professional practitioners including attorneys, CPAs, financial planners and current clients, and continues to grow at a fast pace.
