Ohio Says Kentucky Agent Used Fake Names, Revokes License

September 2, 2011

Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor has revoked the resident insurance agent license of Sheri Lyn Sharp, of Burlington, Ky., for violations of Ohio insurance law.

Sharp wrote approximately 52 insurance policies from February through July 2008 using fictitious names so she could meet her sales quota and earn commissions, according to the insurance department.

Ohio insurance law allows the director to revoke any license of an insurance agent for soliciting, procuring an application for, or placing, either directly or indirectly, any insurance policy when the person is not authorized to engage in such activity.

Sharp’s Ohio resident insurance agent license was revoked by the Ohio Department of Insurance on July 21, 2011.
