The federal government is warning those who suffered losses from Missouri River flooding this summer that deadlines to file insurance claims are approaching.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says that for some people the deadline is Sept. 29.
Under federal insurance regulations, policy holders have 120 days from the date of the flood-related damage to file a claim. They must also submit a proof of loss statement. FEMA is encouraging affected property owners to contact their insurance agents to be sure the documents have been filed within the allowed timetable.
The normal deadline for filing and submitting the proof of loss document is 60 days from the date of damage, but the deadline was extended to 120 days for the Missouri River floods.
