Nebraska’s top regulator says insurance producers will be among the first to benefit from the state’s implementation of a national state based online regulatory system.
The Nebraska Department of Insurance announced it has completed the initial phase of implementing State Based Systems (SBS), making it the latest state to use the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (NAIC) electronic application for its regulatory needs.
“This initial phase provides our insurance producers with key online benefits and resources from SBS such as real-time Continuing Education (CE) online tracking tools,” said Nebraska Insurance Director Bruce R. Ramge.”
“In taking important steps toward SBS implementation, Nebraska joins a growing contingent of states who are benefitting from our innovative, electronic application,” said NAIC President and Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin M. McCarty. “The continued growth of SBS attests to the inherent value of services utilized by NAIC members, consumers, producers and companies.”
In addition to Nebraska, SBS is currently the system of choice in Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Tennessee, U.S. Virgin Islands and West Virginia. Limited SBS services are also licensed by South Carolina and Virginia.
