J.M. Wilson hires Hotrum as assistant brokerage underwriter

J.M. Wilson has hired Amy Hotrum as assistant brokerage underwriter in their Portage, Michigan office. Hotrum is responsible for assisting underwriters with a wide variety of new and renewal brokerage risks, as well as strengthening relationships with independent insurance agents and company underwriters in all the states that the company serves.

Prior to joining JM Wilson, Hotrum was an administrative assistant for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for four years and a claims processor at State Farm Insurance for 17 years.

Founded in 1920, J.M. Wilson is a managing general agency and surplus lines broker providing independent insurance agents access to specialty markets.

Omaha National names four to Board of Directors

Omaha National Group, Inc. a tech-enabled provider of workers’ compensation insurance and payroll services, has added four new directors to its board to guide the company’s growth.

The new directors are:

  • Beth Boucher, Former Senior Vice President & CIO, SiriusPoint
  • Nick Davies, Operating Partner, Agman; Former President Brit Americas and Chair Brit USA and Bermuda
  • Joyce Johnson-Miller, Chairman & Chief Investment Officer, Pacific Gate Capital
  • Ryan Moore, Co-founder, Accomplice

The newly appointed board members bring insurance, technology and financial markets expertise to Omaha National as the company advances its market positioning and capabilities for small and midsize businesses across America.

Last month, Omaha National announced it closed a $45 million Series B round led by Accomplice to propel its transition to a full-stack carrier and to advance the expansion of the company’s proprietary software.

The four new directors join existing board members Geoff Banta, former COO, President and CFO of Amerisafe; Dennis Chookaszian, former Chairman and CEO of CNA Insurance Companies; Reagan Pufall, President and CEO of Omaha National; Scott Silverman, Founder and CEO of Agman; and Jeremy Smith, COO and Principal of Agman.
