Dixen Forms MGA Focused on Workers’ Comp

Marguerite Dixen, a veteran insurance executive, has established Adroit General Agency, a managing general agency providing workers’ compensation insurance along with technology-driven safety, loss prevention and claims management services.

Based in Chicago, Adroit plans to expand its workers’ compensation business as it addresses the needs of a long-underserved market segment with a history of high-severity exposures, including enterprises in such sectors as construction, energy, recycling, alternative energy, agriculture, and transportation. The firm is initially offering services to clients in Illinois, Georgia, Indiana and Tennessee and has additional licenses pending in the Midwest and Southeast.

Robert Petrie, CEO of Origami Risk, will serve as an advisor to Adroit, which will begin operations with an office in Chicago and six experienced professionals, including specialists in brokerage relationship development, workers’ compensation underwriting and program structure, safety and loss control, claims management and compliance.

Dixen, founder and CEO, has more than 32 years of insurance industry experience. Previously, she was founder and president of Third Coast Underwriters (3CU) a division of AF Group. She launched and led Fundamental Underwriters, a commercial transportation liability specialty insurer. Her industry experience also includes senior management roles at SeaBright Insurance and The Hartford. During her career, she also held senior positions in underwriting with Travelers, RSA and Argonaut.

Petrie, who co-founded Origami Risk in 2009, has more than three decades of leadership experience in risk management and insurance technology. Earlier in his career, he served in a series of senior leadership roles at Marsh, including CEO of CS STARS and head of Global Operations and Client Technology.
