Iowa Men Face Felony Charges for Workers’ Comp Insurance Fraud

A pair of Iowa men were charged with insurance fraud following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau.

Trey Wysocki, age 40, of New Virginia was charged with one count of Insurance Fraud – Presenting False Information (Class D Felony) and Theft in the 3rd degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor), while Kristopher Stapes, age 39, of St. Charles was charged with one count of Insurance Fraud – Presenting False Information (Class D Felony) following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau.

The charges against Wysocki and Stapes stem from an investigation that began in February 2023. According to criminal complaints filed by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau, Wysocki and Stapes provided false information in support of a workers’ compensation claim resulting in the issuance of benefits to Wysocki he would not otherwise have been entitled to.

On September 6, 2023, Wysocki was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail where he posted a $7,000 bond.

On September 7, 2023, Stapes was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail where he posted a $5,000 bond.
