Andrew Beal has been named general counsel for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Beal has been serving as acting general counsel since September and has served as senior counsel since 1999.
Prior to his position at the NAIC, Beal had a private practice in Oklahoma City, specializing in the areas of corporate and insurance regulatory law. He also served as senior vice-president and general counsel for Mid-Continent Life Insurance Co. of Oklahoma City.
State insurance regulation is not new to Beal, who served as assistant general counsel for the Oklahoma Insurance Department from 1991-1992.
