SAFECO Initiates New Worksite

August 7, 2001

SAFECO announced that customers can now buy personal insurance for auto, home, boat and other property quickly and easily at work with payroll deductions, through a new worksite marketing program initiated by the company.

The new P&C marketing program, designed to complement SAFECO’s Ultra VIIP individual life insurance product already offered to employees through worksite programs, is now available for agents to sell to small- and medium-sized companies throughout the country.

SAFECO President and CEO Mike McGavick said agents have responded well to the new program so far, since worksite marketing plays to their strengths. Independent agents already have the lion’s share of the small commercial insurance market, with 60 percent of the business, and this new approach helps agents maximize the revenue potential of those customers.

McGavick added that the program is a great example of the kind of innovative marketing approach SAFECO is looking for, noting agents have asked for this type of program, and SAFECO is expecting more great ideas from agents out there, because they know their customers best and know how to meet policyholders’ needs.

To make worksite marketing as easy and hassle-free as possible for agents, SAFECO has partnered with Agency Revenue Tools’ LLC, creators of the Worksite Marketing Manager™, unique web-based software that coordinates employee billing information from multiple employers and multiple insurance carriers, then automatically bills the employers with one consolidated bill for all their employees. The agencies then remit premium payments back to SAFECO and other participating carriers, without the administrative hassle of extra paperwork or having to chase down late payments.

According to McGavick, SAFECO’s P&C and Life worksite offerings are integrated, so employees can receive one convenient payroll deduction to cover a wide variety of insurance needs.
