Miller Elected President of CAS; D’Arcy is New President-Elect

Mary Frances Miller, senior partner and consulting actuary, Select Actuarial Services, Nashville, Tenn., was elected president of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) at the organization’s annual meeting recently. She succeeds Gail Ross, manager & senior consultant, Milliman USA, Princeton, N.J. Stephen D’Arcy, professor of finance, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, was named president-elect.

Miller joined Select Actuarial Services in 1999 after serving as chief actuary for Sedgwick Insurance Brokers. She began her insurance career with American States Insurance Companies.

Miller is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and served as CAS vice president of admissions. Miller also has chaired the Future Education Task Force, the Mutual Recognition Task Force and other CAS committees.

D’Arcy joined the faculty at the University of Illinois in 1981. Prior to his current position, he was the actuary at CUMIS Insurance Society and an actuarial student at Aetna Insurance Company. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and has served on the CAS Board of Directors and as chairman of the CAS’ Long Range Planning Committee and Task Force on Education and Testing.
