APPEX (Agency Peak Performance EXchange) has announced that 10 new agencies have joined its membership.

Christensen Group Insurance Resources International
Founded in 1952, CG-IRI, located in Minnetonka, Minn., has a rich history of client-focused service and a commitment to continuing growth. Distinguished by the strength of its professional staff, Christensen Group’s knowledge base allows the agency to focus on creative business solutions and to help navigate their clients throughout changing market conditions.
DS&P Insurance Services Inc.
Founded in 1981, DS&P’s primary marketing territory is Northern Illinois. The agency’s 45 employees operate out of a single location in Palatine, Ill., a northwestern suburb of Chicago. DS&P specializes in the construction industry and also has a noticeable presence in the financial institution, printing and technology industries.
The Holmes Organisation
The Holmes Organisation was founded in 1963 and over the years has become one of Tulsa, Okla.’s largest independent insurance firms.
The firm provides a broad range of insurance and risk management services to middle and upper-tier commercial accounts. The Holmes Organisation has built particular knowledge and established specialized practice groups in numerous areas, including risk management, energy, banking, real estate, refuse sanitation, aviation, law, equine insurance, marine and manufacturing.
ISG International Inc.
ISG International Inc., located in Cambridge, Md., was formed in 1977 by G. Philip Feldman. The agency has three primary areas of specialty: Insuring technology businesses on a national basis through their trademarked CCBsure program; insuring all lines of insurance for general business including commercial lines, personal lines and financial services; and insuring ocean-front and resort-type properties. ISG focuses on industry specialization, rapid response to customers and a loyal, dedicated workforce.
Leap/Carpenter/Kemps
Leap/Carpenter/Kemps Insurance Agency was founded in Merced, Calif., in 1947 when Edward G. Leap, a decorated World War II veteran, established what was then known as Leap Insurance Agency. The agency was incorporated in 1959. Over the years, Leap/Carpenter/Kemps Insurance Agency has developed several strategic business partners and added many influential staff members.
Murray Insurance Associates Inc.
Paul G. “Pop” Murray, a well-known Lancaster County entrepreneur, founded Murray Insurance Associates Inc. in 1930. With corporate offices located downtown, Lancaster, Penn., the agency has grown to become a leading independent insurance agency in central Pennsylvania. Murray Insurance offers personal insurance, property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance, employee benefits and surety and fidelity bonds. Murray Insurance also offers risk management consulting and alternative risk programs.
Shepherd Insurance and Financial Services Inc.
Located in Carmel, Ind., Shepherd Insurance & Financial Services is a privately held corporation dating back to 1977. Their primary marketing territory encompasses the Midwest, with most of its business written in Indiana.
UNICO Group Inc.
Located in Lincoln, Neb., UNICO Group Inc. is a privately held ESOP agency dating back to the late 1800’s. While the agency can be described as a general insurance agency, UNICO does have specialty programs for new car dealers, rural telephone companies and lumberyards. In addition, UNICO does a number of contractors, financial institutions, educational risks, crop, fast food restaurants, wholesalers and light manufacturing business.
The ENB Insurance Agency Inc.
The ENB Insurance Agency Inc. traces its founding to an agency begun in 1913, in Silver Creek, N.Y. Over the years, the agency has grown from a single office to several offices with a staff of expert agents, brokers and support personnel. In addition, The ENB Insurance Agency, Inc. offers a large portfolio of products and services to meet their client’s needs.
Winter-Dent & Company
Winter-Dent & Company is located in Central Missouri, with offices in Jefferson City and Columbia. Founded in 1912, the agency specializes in commercial insurance, bonds, personal insurance, employee benefits and financial services. In addition, the agency has several niche programs, but for the most part, focuses on a more “general” cross-section of the accounts in their geographic area. The agency has clients in industries ranging from professional to construction and from governmental to trucking.
Currently, APPEX is comprised of 107 independent insurance agencies from 37 states across the country. Representing over $6.6 billion in insurance premiums, APPEX Partners are working together to enhance the value of their businesses as measured by the personal income of agency owners, the value of the owner’s agency and the owner’s return on equity. To qualify for APPEX membership, candidates must meet specific size and quality criteria. Agencies must also demonstrate creative and effective business practices, the willingness to share with peers and a strong desire to grow and improve.
