Beazley Commercial Property Team Expands In U.S.

Beazley announced it has hired two senior underwriters to assist with the company’s U.S. operations mid market commercial property business a focus.

Todd Hanes joins Beazley as the West Coast regional underwriting manager for commercial property business. Based in San Francisco, Calif., Hanes will work with local brokers to provide a fresh approach and tailored products to meet clients’ needs. He brings 20 years’ experience of commercial property insurance experience, most recently as assistant vice president and operations manager for Liberty Mutual Property’s Western Broker Operations.

Tom McCarthy joins Beazley as technical underwriting manager, based in Chicago. McCarthy has 20 years of commercial property experience with Wausau Insurance and Liberty Mutual Property, serving most recently as senior underwriting specialist with Liberty Mutual Property in Chicago.

Hanes and McCarthy will work closely with Mark Bernacki, who joined Beazley in December last year to lead the development of the firm’s commercial property business in the U.S. admitted market. The team is on schedule to begin accepting business in the fourth quarter of 2006.

“Our firm belief is that mid market businesses deserve access to the creative and flexible underwriting and high quality service that larger businesses often take for granted. To this end, we are hiring underwriters who share our commitment to exceptional client service and who bring long and deep experience in commercial property insurance,” Bernacki said.
