The American Academy of Actuaries Executive Committee has appointed Mary Downs as the executive director of the American Academy of Actuaries. Downs had been appointed interim executive director in April. She will continue to serve as general counsel for the American Academy of Actuaries, a position she has held since 2006.
Before joining the American Academy of Actuaries staff, Downs served in various legal and management positions in both the government and the private sector. She received her Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 1974.
