Avoca Insurance Holdings has established Manchester Specialty Programs Inc. (MSP) as a national programs platform. William D. Thompson has been named president and CEO of the organization. Thompson is directly responsible for the development and management of all program business.
The company will focus on providing coverage to specialty industry sectors in partnership with highly rated carriers. Prior to joining MSP, Thompson was a principal of Smith Bell & Thompson Inc., a Burlington Vermont-based specialty underwriter. Thompson was instrumental in the development of the national programs division, generating over $200 million in premium volume.
Manchester Specialty Programs will provide specialty commercial property and casualty coverage on an open brokerage basis. It is licensed to do business as a program administrator in all states. The company is based in Manchester, New Hampshire and is part of the Avoca Group, with additional offices in New York, Boston, Hartford, Philadelphia, Chicago and London, England.
Avoca Insurance Holdings is a privately owned company established in Bermuda in 2006. Avoca owns a number of specialized underwriting operations in the U.S.
