SpatialKey, Kinetic Analysis Partner to Boost Storm Impact Analysis

February 10, 2011

Spatial Key and Kinetic Analysis have announced a strategic partnership to provide real-time and historical tropical storm analysis for underwriters, actuaries and risk managers.

The alliance combines SpatialKey’s location-based data visualization and analysis platform with Kinetic’s storm impact forecasts to offer a visual way to assess the impact of a storm before and immediately after it makes landfall.

Until now, insurance companies were required to build custom applications to allow risk managers to analyze storm data. SpatialKey’s data visualization solution will allow Kinetic’s customers to identify catastrophic weather systems more quickly and accurately.

“When assessing risk exposure in the face of a major storm, time is of the essence,” said Tom Link, SpatialKey founder and CEO.

Kinetic Analysis monitors tropical cyclone activity worldwide and produces expected wind, wave, storm surge and cumulative rainfall hazards associated with active storms in near-real time. Advance information on expected site-specific impacts can be used to develop response and arrange for assistance.
