Ironshore Specialty Introduces Lead Umbrella Product for Agriculture Industry

March 23, 2011

Ironshore Inc. has introduced Ironshore AgriProtection, an agriculture industry lead umbrella policy launched in response to increased demand from a large, middle market commercial agribusiness entities. Ironshore Specialty Casualty can provide coverage enhancements including coverage for herbicide, pesticide, and fertilizer application, misdelivery of liquid products, and failure to supply. Also, the pollution exclusion contains an exception for anhydrous ammonia, liquid petroleum gas, and propane, and our fungus exclusion does not apply to products intended for bodily consumption. Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease) and genetically modified organism coverage are considered on an individual account basis.

“Ironshore has developed a lead umbrella policy to provide protection with coverage enhancements that are not typically offered within the standard umbrella market,” said Tim McAuliffe, president of Ironshore Specialty Casualty. “Global demand for higher quality food products has raised awareness for the broader insurance coverage needs of the targeted, burgeoning agribusiness class.”

Commercial entities within the agricultural sector that can benefit from our broader coverage include agricultural co-ops, growers, packers, shippers, animal feed and pet food manufacturers, dairy and egg producers, and meat and poultry processing facilities. Ironshore’s AgriProtection Lead Umbrella form provides ISO- based occurrence coverage with limits up to $25 million. Worldwide coverage is available for large, commercial agriculture risks with annual revenues between $50 million and $500 million, although other size risks will be considered. Excess liability coverage with limits up to $25 million is also available when attaching over another company’s lead umbrella.
