Hub International Acquires Two Agencies

Hub International Limited has acquired the assets of Lawson-Hawks Insurance Agency Inc. (LHI), a Mountain View, Calif.-based insurance brokerage firm, and Mark Tauber Insurance Brokerage Inc., a Brooklyn, New York-based commercial insurance brokerage firm.

Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

The LHI team will become part of the California operations of Hub International Insurance Services (Hub California) and will remain in their existing offices in Mountain View, Carmel, Folsom, Monterey and Truckee, Calif. John Miller, CEO of LHI, will join Hub California as a senior officer and will focus on the growth of Hub California’s operations and the development of its extensive client services in Northern California.

The employees of Tauber Brokerage will become part of the Hub International Northeast Limited (Hub Northeast) team in Brooklyn. Mark Tauber, president of Tauber Brokerage, will join Hub Northeast as part of the acquisition, reporting to Lon Grayson, senior vice president, Hub Northeast.

LHI is a full-service agency, offering property/casualty, employee benefits and personal lines insurance programs to businesses and individuals throughout California and the Western United States. Founded in 1937, LHI writes many industries, but holds specific niche expertise in medical malpractice, lawyers’ professional liability, environmental insurance, coverage for home builders and affinity and program business of several national associations.

Founded in 1989, Tauber Brokerage handles the property/casualty programs for many small to mid-sized businesses throughout the five boroughs of Manhattan and the greater New York metropolitan area, serving a large concentration of clients in the real estate, general construction and volunteer fire and ambulance service industries.
