ACE USA Makes Executive Appointments in Casualty Underwriting

ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of the ACE Group, announced two executive appointments in its Foreign Casualty and Custom Casualty divisions.

Alexander Wells has been appointed senior vice president and national underwriting manager of the Custom Casualty Division. Wells will be based in Philadelphia, and will be responsible for setting and driving the overall business unit strategy for the Custom Casualty lines of business, which provide general and automobile liability coverage products to middle and upper middle market U.S.-based companies. The unit also provides coverage for traditional and renewable energy companies and offers a combined primary commercial general liability and pollution liability coverage form for the chemical industry. Wells will report to Ross Bertossi, Division president, ACE USA Casualty Lines.

With more than 20 years in the insurance industry, Wells most recently served as senior vice president, ACE Excess Casualty. Prior to joining ACE in 2006, Wells began his career at a large global carrier.

Craig Hanrahan has been appointed senior vice president, foreign casualty cash flow within the Foreign Casualty Division. He will be based in New York City. The ACE Foreign Casualty Cash Flow operations product suite provides products for large multinational companies. He will report to Bryan Tedford, senior vice president, ACE Foreign Casualty.

With nearly 25 years of insurance industry experience, Hanrahan most recently served as senior vice president and global client executive since 2010. Prior to that position, he spent 19 years with a global broker based in New York City.
