ANV Launches Miscellaneous Professional Liability Program in U.S.

July 27, 2015

ANV Underwriters, the international managing general underwriter (MGU) segment of global speciality insurance group ANV, has launched a new North America Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) product and team.

The new MPL product expands ANV’s MGU presence in the U.S. market and supplements the company’s North American Financial Lines products.

Led by newly appointed John Birkhofer, the team will underwrite MPL for the U.S. market out of ANV’s New Jersey office. John will report to Peter McKeegan.

John brings a decade of MPL underwriting experience to ANV, with a specific focus on wholesale distribution. Under his leadership, the MGU will focus on Miscellaneous Professional Liability with an emphasis on middle-market primary risks as well as follow-form excess liability for both middle market and larger accounts. Before joining ANV, John underwrote MPL as well as cyber liability, management liability and crime insurance with Markel, Lexington and Chubb.

ANV is a global specialty insurance group, providing underwriting for specialty risk products for global organizations as an MGU and as a risk-bearing insurer. With Lloyd’s syndicates 1861, 5820 and 779, and offices in Barcelona, London, Rio de Janeiro, New Jersey and Kansas City, ANV, supported by lead investor Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan, has built a team of leading underwriting specialists focused on providing insurance for specialty risks on a global basis.
