Veteran Aon Executive Fitzgerald Joins QBE North America Specialty & Commercial

January 9, 2020

A long-time Aon executive is signing on with QBE North America as its new president of Specialty & Commercial.

Tom Fitzgerald is taking on the new position in February 2020 after being with Aon Risk Solutions for more than 28 years, most recently as chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solution’s global broking operations.

He succeeds Jeffrey Grange, who left in December to become vice president for U.S. operations at Argo Group International Holdings.

As a member of the executive leadership team, Fitzgerald will report to Todd Jones, QBE North America chief executive officer.

One of the largest businesses within QBE North America, the Specialty & Commercial division consists of commercial property/casualty and specialty products and services. Fitzgerald will be responsible for growing the segment.

Todd Jones, CEO of QBE North America, said that Fitzgerald brings a number of valuable qualities to the job.

“He’s an innovator who has made important contributions to the industry and I am confident that he will successfully lead this critical business into the future and have a positive impact on the overall organization,” Jones said in prepared remarks.

Fitzgerald has held several leadership positions within Aon Risk Solutions. Prior to being CEO of global broking operations, Fitzgerald served as CEO of the U.S. retail business, where he oversaw the largest business in the Aon Risk Solutions portfolio.

Previously, Fitzgerald served as chief broking officer for Aon’s U.S. Commercial Risk, where he oversaw the placement of more than $3 billion of insurance annually. He has also served as president of Aon Private Risk Management, which provides risk and insurance services to high net worth individuals and U.S. small commercial businesses. In 2001, Fitzgerald headed the creation of Aon Risk Solutions’ Technology Practice.
