Marsh JLT Specialty Names Hanrahan Global Head of Aviation, Succeeding Harker

Insurance broker Marsh announced the appointment of Garrett Hanrahan as global head of Aviation, Marsh JLT Specialty.

Hanrahan is succeeding Simon Harker who is retiring after 44 years in the industry. Based in Dallas, Hanrahan will report to Lucy Clarke, president, Marsh JLT Specialty.

In this role, Hanrahan oversees Marsh JLT Specialty’s Global Aviation Practice, which advises many of the world’s leading airlines, manufacturers, airports and other leading industry players on their insurance and risk management programs. The Global Aviation Practice brings together more than 300 specialists in over 20 offices worldwide.

Hanrahan joined Marsh in 2013 and has worked within the aviation sector for more than 25 years, most recently as U.S. head of Aviation for Marsh JLT Specialty.

Prior to joining Marsh, he was with Willis Global Aerospace, for almost five years from 2008 until 2013, serving as president and CEO. Before Willis, he was with Aon Risk Solutions for 15 years as executive vice president, Aviation.

Hanrahan said that “new technologies, geopolitical concerns, the need for carbon-efficient travel, and the rising demand for greater global connectivity are just some of the major risk issues the global aviation sector now faces.”
