Elephant Insurance Discounts Auto Coverage for Work From Home Customers

Elephant Insurance is now offering discounted car insurance rates to customers working from home.

Policyholders and spouses working from home and driving less are eligible to receive the new discount, depending on the number of days driven to work and the customer’s occupation. To apply, customers can fill out an online quote form or speak directly with an agent. Elephant’s Work from Home Discount does not require any tracking device to be used by the customer.

The company said auto insurance premiums should reflect the lower risk associated with fewer miles driven. Consumers or policyholders will be asked via Elephant’s online quote, or on the phone with an agent, how many days they drive to work; the answer can be up to five days. This question can also apply to the spouse of the policyholder.

The discount is up to 7%, and is based on the number of days work at home per week and the driver’s occupation.

Discount eligibility began Aug. 19, 2020 in Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, Texas and Virginia. Current customers will have it available for policy renewals starting in these states Oct. 19, 2020. The Work from Home discount will be available in Indiana and Tennessee on Oct. 14, 2020.
