AmWINS Programs Adds Core Specialty as Long-Term Care Facilities Program Carrier

Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. will be the carrier providing insurance coverage for AmWINS Program Underwriters’ (APU) Long-Term Care Facilities program, effective January 1, 2021.

The Long-Term Care Facilities program’s primary lines of business are professional and general liability (primary and excess). The program will be available nationwide on a non-admitted basis through StarStone Specialty Insurance Co. The Long-Term Care Facilities program has approximately $50 million in annual gross premium income. APU’s program managers have over 30 years of experience underwriting this class of business.

Ben Francavilla, president of AmWINS Program Underwriters, said APU partnered with Core Specialty because of its experience with the long-term care insurance space, “which positions the trajectory of the program for continued success.”

Jeff Consolino, CEO of Core Specialty said the APU Long-Term Care Facilities complements its existing Healthcare book and will allow the company to grow its footprint within an existing specialty niche

Core Specialty’s StarStone Specialty subsidiary previously underwrote the Long-Term Care Facilities program from 2013 to 2017.
