Beazley Appoints Chubb’s Kocsondy as U.S. Cyber & Tech Chief

Specialist insurer Beazley has appointed Patricia Kocsondy as head of U.S. Cyber & Tech. Kocsondy, an experienced cyber underwriter and manager, comes from Chubb, where she served as senior vice president, errors & omissions (E&O) and cyber underwriting, for Chubb Limited’s North American Financial Lines. In her previous role, she was responsible for strategic leadership and direction, portfolio management, product development and underwriting strategy, extending over a broad span of Chubb’s E&O and cyber segments and products. Kocsondy also previously held roles at Ace Limited, Chubb & Son, a division of Federal Insurance Co., and The Hartford Financial Services Group.

Based in New York, Kocsondy will report to Paul Bantick, head of Global Cyber & Tech at Beazley, and focus on middle market and large risk cyber and tech underwriting in the U.S.

Lauren Rhodes Martin

Ames & Gough Adds Martin

Insurance broker Ames & Gough has named Lauren Rhodes Martin as risk management and claims specialist focusing on the firm’s architect and engineer accounts. In her new role, Martin, who is based in the Ames & Gough Washington, D.C. office, will work directly with the firm’s partners and client executives on all aspects of design firm clients’ risk management, including contract reviews, claims advocacy, loss prevention training and advice. Ames & Gough currently has more than 1,700 design firm clients in all parts of the U.S.

Martin joins Ames & Gough following a career of nearly 35 years at CNA. For more than three decades she was directly responsible for handling architect and engineer errors and omissions claims.

Kinzer Heads Zurich North America’s Construction Casualty

Zurich North America has appointed Kelly Kinzer to the newly-created role of head of Construction Casualty. The announcement reflects a broader realignment of Zurich’s Construction business into two segments, Property and Casualty. Kinzer, who rejoined Zurich in 2019, will lead national Construction Casualty efforts, working with brokers and agents on third-party risk transfer solutions, much as she did in her prior role as Zurich’s head of Construction Property. Kinzer will continue to report to Karen Reutter, head of Construction .

Prior to rejoining Zurich, Kinzer worked at Willis Towers Watson, culminating in her role as North America head of Construction Broking. She previously worked at Marsh & McLennan, Allianz and, in her first role out of college, at Zurich for seven years.

Kinzer’s successor as head of Construction Property will be named later.

AXA XL Adds 4 Environmental Underwriters; Promotes Claims Leader

Property/casualty and specialty insurer AXA XL has expanded its regional underwriting capabilities with the addition of four senior environmental underwriters. The newest senior environmental underwriters include:

  • Lindsay Judd in San Francisco. Judd brings 14 years of pollution insurance experience. She’s held underwriting positions at Zurich and Chubb where she addressed the complex environmental risks in the real estate, municipality, hospital, biotech, manufacturing, and mergers and acquisitions industries. Prior to entering the insurance industry, she was the director of Finance at a Brownfield Redevelopment firm, and provided environmental due diligence, regulatory and legal framework, and financial resources for those projects.
  • Jay Kao in Los Angeles spent the last seven years as a senior environmental underwriter at Chubb, providing businesses with Site Pollution and Contractors Pollution insurance coverage. Prior to entering the insurance industry, he was a scientist for an environmental consulting firm.
  • Angela Case in Denver has more than a decade of environmental underwriting experience honed at positions with WestCongress Insurance Services, Tokio Marine and Zurich, Case will address the multi-line property/casualty insurance needs of environmental businesses, such as recyclers, hazmat transporters, environmental contractors, consultants, and others.
  • Igor Pavlo in Exton, Pennsylvania brings more than eight years of underwriting experience helping environmental businesses address their P/C insurance needs, most recently with Berkley Environmental. Pavlo is also a Marine Corps veteran.

AXA XL has also promoted Jeffrey Anastasio to lead its Environmental Claims team in North America. Previously an environmental claims manager, Anastasio brings more than 14 years of claims management experience, having worked on AXA XL’s environmental claims team since 2015. He assumes the role previously held by Kimberly MacDonald who was recently promoted to AXA XL’s Head of Specialty Claims in the Americas.
