The Hartford Names Garrison Head Of Navigators Wholesale

The Hartford has named Michael Garrison as head of Wholesale for Navigators, a brand of The Hartford. Garrison will lead the strategic direction, growth, and underwriting for the business, as well as manage relationships with the company’s wholesale distribution partners.

With more than 28 years of experience in the insurance industry, Garrison brings a broad range of business insights in global risk having worked in New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Bermuda, and Paris. Prior to joining The Hartford, he was with at Allied World as president, head of Global Construction and International First-Party Lines. Garrison served as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer at Starr Companies where he created and developed first-party underwriting platforms for International Onshore Energy, Global Construction, Global Exploration & Production, and International General Property.

He will report to The Hartford’s head of Global Specialty Adrien Robinson.

Ascot Names Trochev to Run Financial Institutions

Ascot has appointed Peter Trochev as senior vice president and head of Financial Institutions.

Trochey joins Ascot from Nationwide, where he has been since 2008, most recently as leader for the Financial Institutions and Fidelity divisions, overseeing Management and Professional Liability products across the country.

He assumes the management of Ascot’s FI portfolio, which includes Management and Professional Liability products for asset managers, investment advisors and financial institutions of various sizes. He will also be responsible for developing new products, while continuing to build a high caliber team to serve a broader segment of the FI industry. Based in New York, Peter will report to Matthew C. Kramer, CEO, Ascot U.S.

AXA XL Announces Regional Environmental Leaders; Adds Underwriter

AXA XL’s Environmental insurance business reported two new regional management appointments and the addition of new pollution underwriting expert in its Atlanta office.

Joseph Madigan has been appointed head of Environmental for the East region of AXA XL’s North America Environmental Insurance business. Previously, head of the Central region, he now assumes underwriting management responsibility of its largest region along the East Coast. Based in AXA XL’s Exton, Penn office, Madigan joined AXA XL’s Environmental insurance business in 1998 as an environmental underwriter and assumed increasingly more senior roles during his 22-year tenure.

Based in Chicago, Tim Chung has been promoted to head of Environmental for the Central region; the position formerly held by Mr. Madigan. Mr. Chung joined AXA XL as an environmental underwriter in 2019, combining more than 16 years of environmental contracting and consulting experience with his underwriting skills. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois – Chicago and is a licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.).

Snohti Nmah joins AXA XL in Atlanta as a senior environmental underwriter and reporting to Madigan. Nmah began her insurance career in 2011 as an underwriter and claims analyst with ACE Group, now Chubb. She’s held underwriting positions with James River Insurance Co. and Colony Specialty.

Allianz Appoints Houlihan to Lead Alternative Risk Transfer In the Americas

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty announced that Thomas Houlihan has been officially named the permanent regional head, Americas for AGCS’ Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) division.

Houlihan has been serving in this role on an interim basis since May 2021 as ART refocused with an emphasis on structured insurance (including reinsurance for captives) and fronting (for captives and other corporates). He joined AGCS in May 2014 as an executive underwriter in Liability and previously was Northeast team leader and regional practice grouplLeader for Construction, Liability National Accounts before joining ART in January 2020. Prior to AGCS, Houlihan held positions at Allied World Assurance, The Navigators Group and Arch Insurance Group.

Based in New York, he reports to Grant Maxwell, global head of Alternative Risk Transfer.
