Willis Towers Watson Appoints Petersen as Head of Primary Casualty Broking, North America

Insurance broker Willis Towers Watson announced the appointment of Casey Petersen as the head of Primary Casualty Broking for North America. In this role, Petersen will lead the North America primary casualty broking practice, which focuses on risk financing.

Petersen joined Willis Towers Watson in 2005 and has held numerous leadership positions across the Midwest. Prior to this appointment, he led the Midwest casualty broking team. He began his career as a commercial underwriter with Chubb.

Based in Chicago, Petersen will report to Jon Drummond, head of Broking, North America.

Insurtech Entrepreneur Moore Now Executive Advisor to Olive.com

Keith Moore, former chairman and CEO of the digital insurance marketplace CoverHound, and founder of CyberPolicy, CoverHound’s small business subsidiary, has joined the board of directors as an executive advisor of a startup olivbe.com, which offers payment services and online vehicle protection plans.

Broker Brown & Brown acquired Moore previous businesses in November 2020 for an undisclosed price.

Moore has more than 20 years of digital product and marketing leadership experience. Before CoverHound and CyberPolicy, he was general manager at Lending Tree.

The company olive.com, founded in 2006, offers plans that cover mechanical failure of vehicles after their manufacturer’s warranty has expired. The Chicago-based company announced in July that it will go public, through a planned merger with payment services company PayLink Direct and then special purpose acquisition company MDH Acquisition Corp.

New Executive Trio to Lead Kinetic Insurance as Wearable Tech Reduces Injury & Claims

Kinetic, a company that provides wearable technology for the industrial workforce, announced that Gerritt Graham, Ronnie O’Dell and Steven Schafer will lead Kinetic Insurance. Kinetic Insurance was announced as a new company in November, combining workers’ compensation insurance with a technology-driven approach to worker safety.

Underwritten by Nationwide’s E&S/Specialty division, Kinetic Insurance provides workers’ compensation insurance that promises to reduce injuries and costs with technology.

Graham, O’Dell and Schafer will lead the company, reporting directly to the CEO and co-founder, Haytham Elhawary.

Graham assumes the role of executive vice president, Growth Strategy, where he will lead marketing and distribution. Graham has 20 years’ experience leading sales and marketing organizations across the financial services vertical. He was the chief commercial officer for Corvus Insurance Holdings.

Vice President O’Dell will lead business development and broker relations for Kinetic Insurance. O’Dell brings more than two decades of business development experience to his new role, most recently as vice president of Distribution for CopperPoint of California (formerly Pacific Compensation), a mono-line workers’ compensation business unit of CopperPoint Insurance Companies based in Arizona.

Schafer will serve as vice president of Underwriting at Kinetic Insurance. Schafer has served as underwriting leader of specialty programs for EMPLOYERS, and before that, as assistant vice president of Underwriting for Pacific Compensation Insurance Co.
