RIMS Introduces 2022 Officers and Directors

Patrick Sterling will lead RIMS, the risk management society, as president for the 2022 term.

Sterling is vice president at the steakhouse restaurant chain Texas Roadhouse in Louisville, Kentucky. A 34-year veteran of the restaurant industry, Sterling oversees executive and management staffing, benefits and compensation, human resource administration, risk management, asset protection and employee relations. Prior to joining Texas Roadhouse in 2004, he served in several leadership positions for Ruby Tuesday restaurants.

He has been a member of RIMS for 17 years. Sterling joined RIMS global board of directors in 2018 and has served as the secretary, treasurer and vice president. He was a Risk Manager of the Year Honor Roll inductee in 2016 and a “Risk Innovator” award winner in 2009.

Hughes Named President of Kimball Hughes Public Relations

Kimball Hughes Public Relations announced the appointment of Rod Hughes as president.

Hughes, who previously served as vice president, will lead the insurance communications agency, which is headquartered in Philadelphia and has operations in Chicago, Boston and Hartford.

Gary Kimball, who launched the company in 1995, will continue in a consulting role and advise on client strategy, crisis communications and new business development. Both Hughes and Kimball are principals in the 26-year-old national agency.

This change in leadership, planned since 2017, is effective immediately.

Rod Hughes

Since joining the agency in 2012, Hughes has played a key role in leading the strategic management of its insurance and other business-to-business client work, as well as evolving the agency’s portfolio of services. During his tenure, Kimball Hughes PR has has expanded to serve technology, the legal profession and real estate as well as association and non-profit communications.

Hughes was as a journalist covering insurance litigation and the law before entering public relations in 2003.

CPCU Society Leadership Council Announces 2022 Officers

The Institutes CPCU Society has announced its new Leadership Council officers for 2022.

Christopher J. Hampshire has succeeded Sharon A. Koches as president and chair. As a vice president in Gallagher Bassett’s carrier practice, Hampshire works with property/casualty insurance carriers and insurtechs to design claims handling programs. Before joining the Leadership Council in 2018, he served as the Philadelphia CPCU Society chapter president in 2016 and 2017. He is also host of the CPCU Society’s podcast, “IN the Know: The CPCU Society Unscripted.”

“With the recent expansion of the Society’s membership, this is an exciting time to welcome more professionals working in the risk management and insurance industry to join us. Moving into 2022, we are determined to increase engagement with industry employers and prove the positive return on investment of their employees’ memberships,” stated Hampshire.

Brett Clausen is assuming a new role on the Leadership Council, transitioning from secretary/treasurer to 2023 president-elect. He is a Lean Six Sigma and leadership development vice president for Farm Bureau Financial Services, as well as a former managing governor for the CPCU Society and governor of the Mountain States Region, past president of the Professional Experience Resource Group (PERG), and board member of the Arizona Insurance Institute.

Kevin Seward transitions from a Leadership Council member to a new role and begins his term as secretary/treasurer in 2022. Seward is an Application Development Manager at Farm Bureau Financial Services. He is a former chapter governor in the North Central region and past chapter president of the Iowa chapter. In addition to serving on the Leadership Council since 2019, Seward previously served on the Diversity Committee for the Society and the board of Ethical Inquiry for The Institutes.
