Markets/Coverages: Physicians Mutual Unleashes Pet Insurance; Allianz Expands Cyber Capacity for Coalition

July 5, 2022

Physicians Mutual Launches Pet Insurance

Physicians Mutual has launched pet insurance for dogs and cats. Physicians Mutual Pet is the company’s first entry into the property/casualty market.

Physicians Mutual Pet is currently available in 34 states amid a national rollout.

Physicians Mutual said it is one of few providers to offer inclusive coverage, meaning pets are covered no matter how young or old, or what breed, they are. Other benefits are the ability to see any veterinarian, customizable deductible options with a $0 deductible and diminishing deductible availability, as well as a waived co-pay and deductible in emergency, lifesaving treatment situations.

Pet parents can also choose options that include coverage for wellness visits, such as exams, dental treatments and vaccinations.

Physicians Mutual is a national provider of health, life and retirement products. Physicians Mutual Pet joins the company’s existing products, including Medicare Supplement, dental, life and supplemental health insurance along with coverage for funeral pre-planning.

Current active Physicians Mutual customers are eligible for a multi-policy discount.

Allianz Enters Multi-Year Partnership with Cyber MGA Coalition

Allianz announced a multi-year partnership with Coalition, a cyber insurance and security managing general agency. Allianz will provide Coalition with long-term committed capacity for its U.S. cyber insurance programs and will lead Coalition’s UK cyber program when it launches later this year.

Coalition combines cyber coverage with security tools to help customers spot, prevent and respond to cyber risk. Its real-time risk screenings deliver insights on digital risks, and it offers 24/7 access to incident response experts. As a result, Coalition says customers experience a “substantially lower frequency of claims” compared to the cyber market average.

In addition to Allianz, San Francisco-based Coalition is backed by Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, Arch Insurance North America, Lloyd’s of London, and Ascot Group.
