People Moves: Mann New Verisk CFO; Furlong SVP at Acrisure Re; NFP Hires Michaelson to Energy Practice

Verisk Names Elizabeth Mann Chief Financial Officer

Elizabeth Mann has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer for Verisk, effective September 15, 2022.

As CFO, Mann will lead Verisk’s global finance organization which includes accounting and controllership, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, strategic sourcing and procurement, tax and treasury. She takes the role left vacated when Lee Shavel was named CEO in May. David Grover, Verisk’s controller and chief accounting officer, has been serving as interim CFO.

Elizabeth’s global and multi-faceted finance experience coupled with her leadership make her the perfect candidate to lead Verisk’s dynamic finance team. Mann comes to Verisk from S&P Global, where she was CFO for the Ratings and Mobility divisions. Prior to that she was senior vice president of capital management. She also held roles of increasing responsibility at Goldman Sachs, including managing director of the firmwide strategy group and the technology, media & telecom investment banking group.

Acrisure Re Hires Carpenter’s Furlong

Acrisure Re, the reinsurance division of global insurance broker and fintech platform Acrisure, announced the appointment of Chuck Furlong as senior vice president and broker, effective immediately.

In his new role, Furlong will focus on expanding Acrisure Re’s reinsurance capabilities in its North American property & casualty classes of business. He will also work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality solutions and service is provided to all its reinsurance clients.

Furlong has more than 25 years of industry experience and has held various management level roles. He joins Acrisure Re from Guy Carpenter, where he was most recently head of U.S. casualty facultative reinsurance. Prior to this, he was an executive vice president at JLT Re for 13 years until the company was acquired by Guy Carpenter in 2018. Furlong also spent five years as executive vice president at Willis Re, working mainly with complex casualty and professional liability treaty placements.

“The reinsurance market is becoming increasingly complex, requiring brokers to be that much more knowledgeable and experienced when providing solutions and service to their clients,” said Simon Hedley, CEO. “Chuck has a proven track record of offering solutions backed by extensive expertise in the property & casualty sector, growing revenue and meeting production targets in the process.”

NFP Adds Energy Industry Veteran Seth Michaelson

P&C broker NFP, said Seth Michaelson was hired to the Energy practice within NFP’s specialty business. Michaelson holds the title of vice president, Energy and Marine, and supports the ongoing growth of NFP’s specialty practice. He reports to Vilma Vanegas, senior vice president, practice leader, Energy.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Seth to NFP as we continue to build a team of talented and experienced professionals,” said Vanegas. “Seth’s background working with corporate and middle-market clients, providing insight on mergers and acquisitions, evaluating complicated insurance placements, and navigating complex property and business interruption claims makes him a valued resource to our industry clients.”

Michaelson brings more than 13 years of experience, serving most recently as managing director at Catto & Catto, a division of HUB International of Texas, Inc. Prior to this, he held a variety of brokerage, risk management and business development roles with several organizations, including Wortham Insurance and WTW. While energy and marine will be his main focus, Michaelson will also work with NFP’s real estate and construction specialty practices to leverage the deep relationships he has cultivated in those industries.
