Slabbert brings more than two decades of experience in international insurance and reinsurance markets, having held several CEO and chief financial officer roles. He joined MS Amlin Underwriting initially as a non-executive director and chairman of the board in May 2020, before assuming the CEO role later that year.

According to Tamaki Kawate, head of International Business of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., the appointment marks the next stage of the company’s plans for business development in the U.S. Kawate said those plans were advanced earlier this year when the group acquired the reinsurance broker Transverse Insurance Group.
