The Hartford Names Shields Chief Sustainability Officer

The Hartford has appointed Terence Shields to the newly created role of chief sustainability officer.

Shields will lead the Office of Sustainability as it guides overall environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, initiatives and disclosures. He will also continue to serve as assistant corporate secretary, supporting the board of directors’ oversight of ESG as well as assessing emerging ESG-related regulations.

Shields has held several leadership roles since joining Hartford, Connecticut-based The Hartford in 2006. Most recently, he served as head of corporate law and interim head of sustainability. Before joining The Hartford, Shields served as an associate in the business law department of Goodwin Procter LLP.

Amwins Hires Nuest to Accelerate Transportation Industry Practice

Jennifer Nuest has joined Amwins in the newly created role of transportation practice leader, becoming the firm’s first full-time practice leader for the industry. Nuest will partner with the relationship managers on key client initiatives and accessing new markets and partner with practice leaders and to drive communication and strategy for industry events, including WSIA, ATA, TCA, and MCIEF.

Nuest has 13 years of transportation insurance industry experience. She previously worked as business development manager at Nirvana Insurance and transportation marketing coordinator at HUB International. Amwins is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Coalition Against Insurance Fraud Names Thompson Deputy Executive Director

Tracy M. Thompson has been named the new deputy executive director of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud in Washington, D.C. Thompson has over 30 years of experience in criminal justice as an assistant prosecutor in the Mercer County prosecutor’s office, then as a deputy attorney general and assistant attorney general in the Division of Criminal Justice in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.

As the New Jersey insurance fraud prosecutor, Thompson supervised a staff of over 100 people who investigated and prosecuted insurance fraud, including health care, auto, Medicaid, disability and workers’ compensation. She recently retired from that position and now serves as adjunct faculty at The College of New Jersey, teaching academic writing and introduction to criminal justice. She currently serves as a trustee to the NJ State Bar Association and was recently recognized as one of the NJ Law Journal’s Outstanding Women Lawyers of 2022.

Chubb Appoints Mollica Division President for North America Financial Lines

Chubb has named Michael Mollica division president for the company’s North America financial lines businesses. Currently, Mollica is executive vice president, head of private/not-for-profit business for the division.

Mollica will have executive oversight of Chubb’s management and professional liability lines of business, which span public, private, not-for-profit, and financial institutions directors and officers coverages, transactional risk and its errors and omissions and cyber products. Mollica also will have responsibility for the division’s strategy, product and business development, underwriting operations and profit and loss performance.

Based in New York, New York, Mollica has over two decades of insurance industry experience. Since joining Chubb in 2008, he has held a variety of leadership positions in underwriting in the financial lines space. In addition to leading the private/not-for-profit management liability business and served as head of the financial institutions business line.
