EMC Appoints Eduard Pulkstenis SVP, Chief Underwriting Officer

EMC Insurance Companies has named Eduard Pulkstenis as senior vice president – chief underwriting officer. Pulkstenis will oversee all aspects of the corporate underwriting function, including strategic direction, product development, and underwriting governance and controls.

Pulkstenis joins EMC with over three decades of experience at carriers, including Selective, The Hartford and AIG, and several insurance startups he has helped found or launch. Most recently, Pulkstenis served as co-founder and chief underwriting officer for Joyn Insurance Services, Inc. He serves on the National Alliance for Education and Research Board of Directors. He is also a licensed insurance producer for property, casualty and surplus lines in 48 states.

Cover Whale Hires Levin and Ben-Dor to Senior Management Team

Cover Whale Insurance Solutions, Inc. has announced two key hires to its senior management team. Carly Levin is joining as chief strategy officer, and Niv Ben-Dor as vice president of product.

Levin joins New York, New York-based Cover Whale from J.P. Morgan, where she led key transformative projects for the digital investment banking team. She brings over 15 years of experience as a data-driven leader across the spectrum of banking transactions and initiatives. Levin also helped drive the long-term strategic direction of the Global Investment Bank and has acted as an advisor and strategy partner to global management teams across the technology sector.

Ben-Dor brings over 16 years of experience to his new role, specializing in product management and user experience. He previously served as vice president of product and monetization at Content IQ. In the role, he will be responsible for the overall development and execution of Cover Whale’s product strategy and roadmap.
