NCCI Names Fick New Board Chairman, Elects Other Board Members

The National Council on Compensation Insurance has elected Brandon Fick as its new board chairman, replacing Lisa Corless.

Fick is chief underwriting officer for Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions, North America. He was elected at the NCCI annual meeting in Orlando, May 9-10. He moved to Liberty Mutual in 2022, from Zurich North America, where he spent four years as chief underwriting officer for North America, NCCI said in a bulletin.

Outgoing Chair Corless is president and CEO of AF Group, the Michigan-based parent firm for workers’ compensation and specialty insurers.

The NCCI also elected new insurer members to the board of directors:

  • G. Janelle Frost, president and CEO, AMERISAFE
  • Christopher Jones, SVP, COO, small commercial, The Hartford
  • Chip Terhune, president and CEO, SAIF Corp.

The insurer members reelected are:

  • Michael Bourque, The MEMIC Group
  • Christopher Foy, AmTrust Financial Services
  • Richard Lavey, The Hanover Insurance Group
  • Cina Welch, FCCI Insurance Group
  • Martin Welch, Hawaii Employers Mutual Insurance Co. (HEMIC)
  • Mary Woods, Travelers

The reelected independent directors are:

  • Michael Dinkins, formerly of Integer
  • Kristie Paskvan, formerly of Mesirow Financial Holdings, Inc.
  • Raymond Voelker, formerly of The Progressive Corp.

The reelected former regulator director is Susan Voss, former Iowa Insurance Commissioner and past NAIC president.

Bill Donnell, as president and CEO of NCCI, is a standing member of the board and does not require reelection, the council noted.
