People Moves: BHSI Promotes Meyer to Head of Product Liability, North America; Forte Named President of Berkley Public Entity

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) announced it has promoted Angela Meyer to head of Product Liability in North America. She was previously head of Life Sciences in North America.

Meyer joined BHSI in 2014 as senior underwriter, casualty, and has held a succession of increasingly senior positions in BHSI’s casualty organization in North America. She has more than 20 years of insurance industry experience.

“Angela has played a pivotal role in building our casualty business since BHSI’s beginning a decade ago,” said Bill Smyth, senior vice president, casualty, BHSI. “In her new role, her exceptional technical skills and commitment to customizing solutions will serve our product liability customers and brokers well in an evolving marketplace.”

BHSI in North America provides products liability, discontinued products and IBNR coverage across the spectrum of manufacturing and distribution classes.

W. R. Berkley Names Forte President of Berkley Public Entity

W. R. Berkley Corp. announced the appointment of John J. Forte as president of Berkley Public Entity, a Berkley Company.

Forte joined Berkley Public Entity as senior vice president, chief underwriting officer and chief operating officer in 2018. He has over 20 years of experience in the property/casualty insurance industry, where he has served in various technical and leadership roles with a particular focus in the public entity insurance market.

Berkley Public Entity is a provider of casualty insurance and reinsurance solutions for municipalities, counties, school districts, special public districts, public utilities and risk sharing groups.
