The Hartford Expands Oklahoma City Operations

October 15, 2002

The Hartford Financial Services Group announced plans to double its workforce at its Oklahoma City customer service and sales center by adding more than 380 new jobs over the next 15 months.

The Silver Springs Crossing office, which opened in 1999, currently houses 387 employees and provides auto and homeowners insurance to members of AARP and services customers across the country.

The Hartford said that approximately 135 new employees will be hired by year-end. The rest are expected to come on board in 2003. The new positions include front-line managers, customer service and sales representatives, and administrative assistants.

“Oklahoma City’s fine, diverse employment base and the positive atmosphere fostered by Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher and other state officials have made Oklahoma a great state to build our business,” said Lou Kalisiak, The Hartford’s site leader for Oklahoma City. “We appreciate the tremendous support we have received here that has enabled us to reach out to new customers and better serve our growing AARP member customer base throughout the United States.”

Commissioner Carroll Fisher said he welcomed a larger presence from The Hartford. “I believe that the success they have found in our great state will attract more financial services companies and high quality jobs here,” he said.

To accommodate the expanding workforce, The Hartford has enlarged its offices, located in Silver Springs Crossing’s Commerce Park, by 33,000 square feet, bringing the total leased office space to 100,000 square feet. Construction on the addition was completed in June and is ready for occupancy.
