CAA Members Part of IIABA Best Practices Study Group

October 29, 2002

Austin, Texas-based Combined Agents of America LLC (CAA) announced two of its member agencies, Bigham-Kliewer-Chapman-Watts and Crockett Insurance Services, were selected to participate in the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) “Best Practices” Study Group.

Over 800 independent agencies throughout the U.S. were nominated to take part in this study. Only 180 agencies qualified for inclusion in the group; that is, the top thirty in each of six revenue groups. The agency was nominated by either an IIABA affiliated state association or an insurance company and qualified based on its outstanding customer services, growth, stability and financial management.

IIABA’s Commission to Enhance Agency Value initiated the Best Practices Study in 1993 as the foundation for efforts to improve agency performance. The annual survey and study of leading independent insurance agencies documents the business practices of these “best” agencies and urges others to adopt similar practices.

“Our involvement in CAA has helped strengthen our agency both financially and through knowledge sharing. Inclusion in the Best Practices study is a great achievement and encourages us to continually raise the bar,” said Bill Kliewer, president for Bigham-Kliewer-Chapman-Watts, Killeen, Texas.

“As part of IIABA’s study we can benchmark ourselves against the best agencies in the country. We believe this benchmark to be a critical element of our continued improvement and success,” said Don Jones, president for Crockett Insurance Services, Crockett, Texas.

CAA is a closed managing general agency committed to strengthening the independent insurance agency system through profitable growth, quality and service. It is composed of 28 member agencies throughout the state of Texas.
