Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher announced he has promoted Rod Stirman to the position of Director of the Real Estate Appraiser Board effective Oct. 1.

As part of his duties as Insurance Commissioner, Fisher administers the Real Estate Appraiser Board. In addition to Fisher, members of the board are appointed by Governor Brad Henry.

The board is a licensing agency for Real Estate Appraiser’s and was established following a federal mandate in response to the savings and loan crisis of the late 1980s.

Stirman, of Perry, has worked with the Appraiser board five and one-half years. He comes to the position with experience in private business, military service and service as first Deputy County Assessor for Noble County.

“I am excited that Rod will step up to this position,” Fisher said. “We had several very qualified applicants, which is always nice.”
